Jayme Navarro: Invented Fuel from Plastic Trash Bags

From Trash Plastic Bags to Fuels

Jayme Navarro’s Pyrolysis Technology converting Trash Plastics into less sulfuric Diesel, Gasoline, & LPG.

A commerce undergraduate, who have been passionately fascinated by the versatility of plastics, have continuously evolved his products over time.

He started off around 1970 when he started to recycle plastic scraps to make plastic twine, straws and sticks in Bacolod. Around 1983, when the plastic resin was in all time high, he experimented again and was able to produce liquid hydrocarbons, but, the project was not yet feasible at that time so he just recycled banker oil to get clean motor oil for two stroke motor engines. After 10 years, he then invented and recycled discarded batteries as the materials for plastic pipes for drainage.

But not until 2005 when his sister, encouraged him to try to find ways to recycle plastic bags and the likes to something useful… and he did.

After intense developing, refining, and improving, last December 2007 during the trial run in Bacolod, Mr. Navarro finally found a great way to recycle plastic bags. He found the best process of converting reject plastic scattered on the streets like sando bag, garbage bags and styrophors, into fuel.

Assorted plastics are first shredded into evenly sized pieces and are put into an agglomeration chamber. It then enters a feeding screw where it is melted and the polymers are mixed with a catalyst. The melted plastic goes to a specially designed pyrolysis chamber and depolymerization occurs, where hydrocarbon gases are being produced. It then passes through distillation, filtration and centrifuge. The light gases produced are then purified, compressed and stored. The process is done entirely inside a vacuum; hence no resultant chemicals are released into the environment.

5000 kilos of contaminated plastic can be converted to 400 liters of diesel and gasoline fuel oil. The machine was built in Bacolod but a bigger plant is in the process of finalization in Montalban where it can produce around 5,000 kilos of fuel per day, it is automated so it will only be needing 3 people to man it.

The process was a success that they brought it to DOE and DOST for analysis. It was tested and it is said to contain all the basic properties of fuel, and even has lower sulfur content. It is clean and environmental friendly. The invention was patented with intellectual property last November 2008.

His Company Poly-Green Technology and Resources Inc., will soon put-up some facilities in Rizal Province and other sorrounding Manila Provinces with the coordination of the local government units.

Kaya kapatid Explore first before you judge if it is true or not true..

  8. Hi,

I just followed your blog. Finally, a one-stop read for uplifting news on Filipinos!

About Jayme Navarro’s innovation: I noticed that this article is written 2 years back. I wonder what has happened to him and to his invention?

    • Thanks for the following, we are in the process of making follow up with this blog but unfortunately we have other business ventures currently in the making. Bloggers needs budget to pursue a project and we are indeed setting up our own marketplace regarding source code. If we can get enough volunteers to work for us in this site we are more than willing to help.

  12. GOD really blessed Phil w/ people whose interest is to uplift our present situation in every way possible. Lets hope and pray that the government will protect and back him up w/o any politicizing. We already lost lots of millions and tons of opportunities from our Pinoy inventors and discoverers because of lack, or totally unsupportive minds from our government and other private organizations and individuals who wanted to help at first, but in the end vested interest will be his utmost goal, living our inventors in vain…

Isulong natin ang Pilipinas kasama ang DIOS!

  15. way to go! hope you wont be attracted to deceiving offers that may cloud your spirit of patriotism and the pleasure of serving our country first…GOD BE WITH YOU!

  16. melting plastic cannot be environmentally sound – surely all those toxic fumes violate existing environmental laws! That is why nobody uses this “old” well known petrochem recycling procedure in developed nations!

  17. I think it maybe a scam. There are several people out there claiming the same thing. One in North America and hasn’t produced anything. It is possible to get oil using the pyrolysis reactors but this is nothing new. It’s a matter of efficiency too. I’m not trying to knock the Jayme but this is a guy John Bordynuik, and company making a similar claim. John began in 199 and there doesn’t appear that there is any evidence that he has the process up and running. How ever fraud claims are beginning to surface. http://seekingalpha.com/article/319080-john-bordynuik-revolutionary-company-or-can-of-worms

??? Apparently there is another guy in Japan too. It’s definitely an area that should be researched. Oil can be gotten through the process but is it efficient? Or does it take more energy/oil to get the oil out?

  18. nice. lakas makapanawagan sa gobyerno. try niyo kaya muna manawagan sa abs-cbn. tutal first philippine holding is one of their companies. mukhang may capability din sila.

  19. Thank you…for pursuing your project, your work will be a great help for our mother Earth. If you have seminars or talk…I am very interested to hear more from you. I am a faculty member at UST College of Architecture. Thanks, again.

  20. same thing has been proferred up here in the US, but, of course the naysayers had the process so bogged down by the Environmental Protection Agency and others that the company said “forget it” and has quit. The truly mavericks though, are forging ahead anyway and I think that you will begin to see backyard versions of this idea coming along. I am using an electric plasma arc torch to begin doing this process to reduce the amount of plastic and trash that we generate in our sausage factory.

  21. HI PO MAGANDANG ARAW, AKO PO SI ROSEMARIE TAGRA GOMEZ NA TAGA COMBADO MAASIN SO.LEYTE,

  22. I was really amazed by this invention! I am so proud of you sir! I hope our government will give full support in this endeavor! God bless Mr. Navarro!

  23. It has been 2 years since this was posted here?! I hope our government had already showed support in your invention!!!! I just found this lately in facebook and found this article. This would be a great help to our economy and our environment as well!!

  24. Hi Mr. Navarro,

I am proud of having you as one of Good Filipino inventor. We greatly proud of you.
i would like to ask how could we reach you.
i am planning to get buy and sell waste plastic bags and other materials as your raw.
    please send me email. anamitzip@yahoo.com

thanks, keep it up and more power!
Hope to get business with you.

  25. 5000 kilos of plastic will turn to 400 liters of diesel? This is not economically viable!!!. This is not a solution for our growing fuel consumption.

Yes, for the meantime , it will be solution to decongest our plastic trash. But what if those trashes will gone? Do we need to import plastic just to feed to those machines?Do we need to encourage our people to use plastic because it can be turned latter on to diesel?

Ok ..ok…my salute to to Mr. Jayme Navarro for such grat job. I suggest him to invent machines to turn water to gasoline. We have lot of supply of water.

  26. Good day Sir I really admire your work I hope we can meet in person and I am willing to help and work with your projects. (^^,)

  27. This is very great news for us. Its been patented already and seen by the dost then why we are not use this technology to lessen the rubbish. Or we are so cheap that we are waiting for the patent to expire and let foreign capitalists earn for our countryman’s genius.

  34. I am now not positive where you are getting your information, however great topic.

I must spend some time studying more or understanding more.
Thank you for fantastic information I was in search
of this information for my mission.

  35. I do not even know how I ended up here, but I thought this post was good.
I do not know who you are but certainly you’re going to a famous blogger if you are not already ;) Cheers!

  36. To Jayme Navarro, Sir, I am interested doing your project in our province as a private sector. I am just an ordinary person who believes in your work because I heard this from my sister in Germany and willing to invest if I could afford it. So, can I communicate with you through e-mail please.

  37. This is the right web site for everyone who really wants to find out about this topic.
You understand so much its almost tough to argue with you (not that I actually would want to…HaHa).

You definitely put a brand new spin on a topic which has been discussed for decades.

    Excellent stuff, just wonderful!

  38. Have you ever considered about including a little
bit more than just your articles? I mean, what you say is fundamental and everything.
Nevertheless think about if you added some great graphics or video clips to give your posts more, “pop”!
Your content is excellent but with pics and videos, this website could certainly
be one of the very best in its field. Awesome blog!

  39. fuel is not invented from plastics..fuel has been around from ages.rather it should have been “MADE from plastics”. Pyrolysis was invented before him… not to bash’ but this article is misleading..but i salute to the great work.. keep it up…
