What Charice Pempengco achieved this year is a milestone not every Filipino artist can attain. It has further reinforced the pride of the Filipinos as she continuously bring fame and honor to the country.
On April 8, 2008, Charice went to England to perform on the Paul O’Grady Show, a British comedy chat show where she performed her signature songs “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” and “I Will Always Love You” and earned a standing ovation. A month later, she guested on the Oprah Winfrey Show where she sang Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing” and left the audience and the viewers all praise for Charice. That same month, she guested at the David Foster tribute concert and sang “I have Nothing / Will Always Love You” and “And I’m Telling You” where she once again earned a standing ovation from an audience of 10,000 at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. Other stars who performed in that concert were Alicia Keyes, Josh Groban, Brian McKnight and Katherine McPhee among others. On September 6, Charice performed at the Feyenoord’s Centennial Anniversary, the Festival of the Century, in the Netherlands. She sang the team’s theme song “You’ll Never Walk Alone” before 50,000 football fans.
On September 15, she performed with Celine Dion at Madison Square Garden in New York where they sang “Because You Loved Me.” This was followed by another spectacular performance during the Andre Agassi Grand Slam for Children Benefit Concert at the Wynn in Las Vegas. She met her idol Mariah Carey at this event. On October 25, Charice performed at the annual Carousel of Hope Ball 2008 in Beverly Hills, California. She appeared in several other performances and celebrations as well. The latest was last November 27 where she sang on the Good Housekeeping Showboat float in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
